We need you to use your skills and talents to become a math teacher in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Teaching Fellows program is seeking a select group of outstanding professionals to use their mathematics skills to teach middle and high school students Philadelphia's most challenging schools.
The Philadelphia Teaching Fellows program recruits talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to teach in classrooms across Philadelphia. We are looking for career changers and recent college graduates who will use their knowledge, experience, and records of achievement to positively change the lives of students in Philadelphia. You do not need previous educational experience or coursework. You will train and earn your teacher's certification with other outstanding Philadelphia Teaching Fellows.

- Opportunity to share your knowledge and love of math with middle and high school students in challenged schools
- Full-time teaching positions, with regular teacher's salary and benefits, in classrooms across Philadelphia if accepted (opportunities to teach in district and charter schools)

- Specialized summer training that includes a student teaching component, during which Fellows receive hands-on training and coaching on effective teaching strategies, that may count towards certification requirements

- Opportunities for student loan forbearance and forgiveness (undergrad and graduate) for individuals committing to teach math in high-need communities
- All first year Fellows may be eligible for a $5,550 AmeriCorps award after successful completion of their first year

Qualifications:
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must have bachelor's degree by May 31, 2012
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to pass an FBI background investigation
- Must not be a certified teacher or earning a degree in education
