Profile: The Pennsylvania Ethnic Heritage Studies Center (PEHSC)

OUR MISSION

The program goal is to create a positive dynamic of cultural diversity in Western Pennsylvania classrooms.
The objectives of the program are to:

1. foster acceptance and appreciation of the diverse ethnic populations of Pennsylvania
2. encourage the development of positive attitudes toward people who are different
3. expand the reach of the PA Ethnic Heritage Studies Center.

The anticipated outcomes are that teachers will be better able to work within culturally diverse classrooms and, through the teachers, students will obtain a greater understanding of the contributions of their own and others' ethnic heritage.
