About Us
The Career Development Center (CDC) is a division of Jewish Family & Children's Service (JF&CS), a non-profit, non-sectarian, multi-faceted social service agency founded in 1937.
Since it's inception in 1984, the CDC has helped over 16,000 job seekers with their employment needs. The CDC continues to meet the ever-changing needs of the region's diverse workforce by serving the entire community, from recent college graduates to mature workers, from Pittsburgh natives to new immigrants, and from those who have just experienced a layoff to people who just want to change careers.
Mission
The mission of the Career Development Center is to optimize the self-sufficiency and satisfaction of its clients of all ages in their career and job transitions with respect to their life/work needs. CDC also strives to serve as a resource to employers with regard to their human resource related needs. CDC assists clients in identifying, pursuing and attaining their professional goals in the most effective manner. CDC is committed to serving the Jewish community as well as the community at large on a non-sectarian basis.

The high quality of the region's workforce is the key to attracting and retaining employers. CDC is committed to promoting sustainability and a workforce development system that is market driven, customer focused, and user friendly.
Fees
Many CDC programs are free for those who qualify. Fees may be assessed on a sliding scale depending on the individual client's financial and employment situation.
Hours of Operation
Mondays-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Nov - April offices close at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.)
The Career Resource Center is open 8:30 - 4:30 p.m. (Nov - April the Career Resource Center closes at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.)

Our Staff
The CDC staff consists of highly experienced and qualified counselors who are sensitive to the needs of our region's workforce. Career counselors and job developers have advanced degrees in career development, human resource management, social work, business administration and education. They have many years of direct experience in employment services programming and related fields and continually update their skills through professional training.
