This role will be part of the Communications and Industrial Solutions (CIS) Advanced Development Organization and specifically that portion aligned with the Data Communications Business Unit. It will require a fast-paced, collaborative mindset with the ability to drive the development to anticipated objectives.

To ensure global benefit and project realization, the position requires a close working relationship with CIS Technology, the Advanced Development Team, and Global Industrial Business Unit engineering teams. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, be able to execute on strategy, and influence across varied stakeholders.

This Advanced Development Principal Development Engineer, will work closely with cross functional teams in identifying and designing next generation, game changing, high speed connector laminated wafer platforms. This individual will be responsible for the development of the product and the manufacturing processes thru the use/involvement of:

- Inside subject matter experts

- Outside vendor/supplier companies

- TE Technology Organization

- Key customer input

- Institutes and Universities

- Open Innovation

- Their own past experience

This role will be part of the Communications and Industrial Solutions (CIS) Advanced Development Organization and specifically that portion aligned with the Data Communications Business Unit. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, be able to execute on strategy, and influence across varied stakeholders.

Key Tasks:

- Develop enabling laminated wafer platform products and the manufacturing processes for global deployment.

- Sponsor wafer specific projects with TE Technology Organization.

- Serve as the laminated wafer project manager.

- Provide hands-on photolithography, additive and subtractive processing, lamination processing, and strong knowledge of general engineering practice.

Key Qualifications, Experiences, and Knowledge:

- Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering degree; Masters preferred, but not required.

- 7+ years of relevant development engineering with general engineering acumen preferred.

- Working experience in photolithography manufacturing processes to produce electrical circuits/components.

- Basic understanding of signal integrity characteristics.

- Experience or a working understanding of etched circuitry manufacturing.

- Theoretical and experimental knowledge of Data Comm applications, including hands-on laboratory experience is desirable.

Particular Skills and Abilities Required:

- A demonstrated experience as a contributing team member, a curiosity to understand, and the ability to correctly address new problems, are all required.

- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.

- The ability to build strong credible relationships with multiple organization functions and nationalities (both inside and outside of TE).

- An ability to work towards and accomplish targets.

- A proven track record of technical innovativeness and creativity.

Other:

- Some domestic and international travel to customers, other TE facilities, and suppliers/vendors will be required.

- High level of written and verbal communication.

- Engineering and some business acumen.
